Manchester United have been slow out the blocks in Premier League matches this season.
United were slow starters under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and comebacks became a trademark of their performances last term.
Those lacklustre starts to fixtures have continued into this campaign and United are now actually the only team in the Premier League not to have scored in the opening 15 minutes of a match, which highlights another problem for Ralf Rangnick to solve.
Such performances are not conducive to challenging for the Premier League title as United often find themselves trailing in games, however, there has been reason for optimism since Rangnick's arrival as the German has actually tightened the backline.
Only Leeds, Watford, Newcastle and Norwich had conceded more goals than United after October's Liverpool debacle. The Reds' defensive record had become a glaring problem under Solskjaer, but Rangnick has made progress in addressing the issue.
Rangnick has recorded two clean sheets in his two league games in charge, as many as Solskjaer kept in four months this season.
The 63-year-old will also become the first United boss to keep a clean sheet in his opening three league fixtures if his side manages to record one away at Newcastle on Monday.
United failed to keep a clean sheet in the reverse fixture against Old Trafford, winning 4-1 in September.
