Manchester United's Premier League set-piece statistic highlights problem for coach Eric Ramsay

Eric Ramsey was appointed as Manchester United's first set-piece specialist and individual development coach this summer.

Ramsay became the youngest Brit to gain his UEFA Pro Licence badge two years ago, which is the top coaching qualification in the game, and he arrived at the club with a lofty reputation despite being in the early stages of his career.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to convince Ramsay to come and join the best club in the world," Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said upon his appointment. "He’s a very highly rated coach who is going to be working with individuals and in charge of set-plays as well."

United have been poor in both attacking and defending set-piece scenarios this season despite Ramsay's appointment, though.

The Reds are the only side yet to score a Premier League goal from a set-piece situation this season, excluding penalties.

Solskjaer's side have also conceded three goals from set-pieces in the league this term and only four teams have conceded more.

Manchester City might look to exploit this glaring weakness at set-pieces in the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon.

It seems that Ramsay has work to do to improve United's underwhelming record from set-pieces.
