Manchester United have a host of famous shirt numbers, with players past and present desperate to get their hands on certain digits ahead of a new campaign.
Like with many clubs, the Reds have numbers that are more desirable than others. At United, as just one example, the number seven jersey is famous, with the likes Eric Cantona and Cristiano Ronaldo having worn it during their time at Old Trafford.
Premier League rules are surprisingly complicated when it comes to shirt numbers. For example, a new signing is unlikely to be allowed to wear number 99, instead, "squad numbers must be consecutive and close to the current highest number".
