Manchester United's Paul Pogba to join PSG for free and more transfer rumours

Paul Pogba is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim Pogba is 'very likely' to leave Old Trafford for free for a second time. It's said that the 28-year-old will have to wait another year to move to PSG due to the financial implications of Lionel Messi's recent switch to the club.

While United have opened dialogue with Pogba's representatives over a possible contract extension for the midfielder this summer, the MEN understand little progress has been made, although the fresh details claim that Pogba has actually rejected a new deal.

Pogba's is now firmly into the final year of his contract at United and he'll be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside England for a free transfer in January - or the Reds could attempt to offload him for a reduced fee in that transfer window.

Their bargaining position in such negotiations would be obviously weak, though, with Pogba having just a few months left in that scenario. It's also worth noting, the article claims Pogba is seeking an increase on his current £290,000 weekly wage at United.

In more transfer news, but staying with PSG, The Guardian claim the French giants will attempt to slash their wage bill after Messi's arrival, which could lead to former United fan favourite Ander Herrera being shown the exit at the Parc des Princes.

The idea that Herrera could return to United has been briefly touted in the article, but that transfer seems unlikely at present.

Finally, it's said that United are considering swooping for Real Madrid's centre-forward Luka Jovic this summer. That's according to Tribal Football who claim those at the club are analysing whether an enquiry for the 23-year-old could be a shrewd investment.
