Manchester United’s own TV channel cancels programme after Brentford thrashing

The fall-out from Manchester United's wretched loss at Brentford continues to be felt.

Erik ten Hag's team were easily swatted aside 4-0 by the Bees on Saturday, with the chastening result leaving United in uncharted territory at the bottom of the Premier League table. Plenty of pundits, commentators and ex-players waded in after the game and many have slammed the performance and questioned the attitude of some players.

However, the club's in-house TV station MUTV perhaps unsurprisingly pulled the plug on their debrief show 'The Debate'. The programme regularly airs on a Monday after every United match, with a clutch of former Reds players featuring as guests.

But the latest episode, slated for last night, was absent from the channel's schedules.

According to The Times , the show - which normally airs at 6pm - was pulled on Sunday. The paper added that MUTV had cited staff shortages for the decision to cancel the latest edition.

Former United defender Gary Neville was hugely critical of the performance both on the day of the Brentford defeat and on Sky's Monday Night Football .

"I've watched Manchester United for 42 years and I can't think of a moment where it has been as bad as that first half," Neville said. "There is a huge job to do, below Erik ten Hag and above him. They haven't got the players in and they have been left short. He is still getting to grips with the league. There's an embedded rot at the club."
