Manchester United's most creative players this season may surprise supporters

Manchester United should be counting down the days until Paul Pogba returns from injury - according to this season's statistics.

United lie seventh in the Premier League table, winning just four of their opening 12 fixtures.

The midfielder has featured in just five of those games, registering two assists against Chelsea, prior to the loss against Crystal Palace.

United fans have bemoaned the lack of creativity in the side at various points of the season - Andreas Pereira's dismal showing during the defeat against Bournemouth highlighted a major problem that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to solve.

Pogba has been pencilled in for a return in December and stats suggest his return could be just what United need to get back into top four contention.

United have created 133 chances in the Premier League so far, the fourth highest total in the league. Leading the way in chance creation for the Reds is defender Ashley Young (18) followed by Pereira (17) as per Bein Sports.

A chance is a pass that leads to a shot. Therefore, it's no surprise to see both players top the table given they are United's designated corner takers.

Pogba ranks fourth on the list with 13 chances created, not factoring in his two assists on the opening day of the season. Given the amount of games he has missed and his deeper position this season, his position on the list showcases just how important he is to United scoring goals.

Fred and Scott McTominay have formed a decent partnership in the deep two man midfield pivot which would allow Pogba free reign ahead of them.

In a more advanced central attacking midfield position, stats suggest the Frenchman will thrive.

Pogba has averaged more key passes than any United player this season and his best games in a red shirt have came from the No.10 role.

With Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial starting to hit form, the World Cup winner could be the final piece of the puzzle.
