Manchester United's Marcus Rashford sends injury message after missing Liverpool FC fixture

Marcus Rashford took to social media after injury ruled him out of Manchester United's meeting with Liverpool at Anfield.

The England forward is missing from United's team after aggravating a back problem during the FA Cup win over Wolves last week.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested on Friday Rashford would not be available for the Liverpool game and there are concerns the United talisman could be out for weeks. Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves took to Twitter to report that Solskjaer confirmed Rashford would be out for weeks with the injury.

Rashford himself then tweeted: "Would have done anything to be involved today so really disappointed to miss out. Come on boys." He then deleted the tweet.

Rashford is United's top scorer this season with 19 goals in all competitions and his heightened importance to the team was highlighted when he was given the captain's armband against Manchester City earlier this month.

The 22-year-old has experienced problems with his back since he was a youngster at the club and uses a bone-healing device to manage the issue.

Rashford usually drives himself to United's training ground but was given a lift in on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which might suggest driving himself in could have caused him some pain in his back.

When asked by MUTV before the Liverpool game if it was too much to ask for Rashford to regain fitness, Solskjaer confirmed: “Too much. He has always recovered quickly before, this time it takes longer. Have to keep monitoring him and see how he is.”
