Manchester United's Luke Shaw pulls out of England squad as injuries mount

Luke Shaw has pulled out of the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers with Czech Republic and Montenegro, joining Gareth Southgate’s growing list of injured players.

The Manchester United defender is the fourth player to drop out of the squad, after John Stones, Fabian Delph and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all withdrew through injury.

Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi have been called up as replacements in midfield, but Shaw will not be replaced as Southgate still has the options of Leicester’s Ben Chilwell and Tottenham’s Danny Rose at left-back.

Shaw endured a difficult weekend as United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolves, where he was easily beaten by Diogo Jota for Wolves’ winner.
