Manchester United's Luke Shaw calls for Premier League season to be 'scrapped and started again'

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has backed scrapping the Premier League season.

English top-flight football has been postponed indefinitely as the county continues to fight against coronavirus.

The season was paused with Liverpool two wins away from a first ever Premier League title, United enjoying an improved run of form to reignite their Champions League qualification push and the relegation picture far from certain with either nine of 10 games still to play.

But Shaw says the season should be "started again" as governing bodies and clubs across Europe try to find a fair solution to the domestic calendar, while Uefa remain intent on playing out the campaign with both the Champions League and Europa League in severe doubt.

"Scrap it and start again," Shaw replied when asked how he would conclude the season.

"Start it again, yeah.

"It’s gotta be you know. If we can’t carry it on it’s got to be void."
