Manchester United's Juan Mata sums up why he is still a Chelsea fan favourite

Former Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has spoke of how he will be 'always grateful' to Chelsea and its supporters for the memories that he created with the club.

The World Cup winner joined the Blues in the summer of 2011, swapping his home nation of Spain for England. Mata spent two and a half years at Stamford Bridge, winning one FA Cup one Europa League and the Champions League in 2012.

The midfielder scored 32 goals in 135 appearances for the club before swapping Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford in January 2014.

In an interview with Sky Sports , Mata has opened up on his time at Chelsea and the memories that he made at the club.

"It was an incredible time for me, I arrived from Valencia, it was a new chapter in my career, a new life, a new country, a new language. But everything was very good from the beginning," he said.

"I remember my first game against Norwich at home, I had one chance and I scored and since then I enjoyed many great moments winning important trophies in two years.

"The fans were incredible to me in both years, voting for me as player of the season, so all my memories from London and from Chelsea are great, and I am very grateful and I will always be."
