The three injured players were spotted in the visitors’ section of the Anfield Road stand and joined in enthusiastically with fans’ celebrations as Wayne Rooney’s late goal secured a 1-0 victory.

Carrick has been on the sidelines since being injured in the 2-1 win over Swansea City on 2 January, in which the defender Jones also picked up an ankle knock.

Rojo has a dislocated shoulder and has not played since the 0-0 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League in November.
