Manchester United's huge £140m price tag for Paul Pogba; Liverpool given major £175m transfer boost; Arsenal chief outlines transfer plans - latest gossip

Pogba latest

The Express claim Manchester United will set a price tag of £140m for Paul Pogba in an attempt to scare off his suitors.

Pogba has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with Real Madrid said to be keen.

Yet United have set their price high enough to put off any potential bids.

Mane boost

The Express also claim that Liverpool will be able to keep hold of Sadio Mane this summer.

Like Pogba, the attacker has been subject to interest from Real Madrid, but the Reds have an asking price of £175m.

That is said to be too much for Real president Florentino Perez, who has vetoed the deal.

Arsenal plans

Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham has said the club will sell any player with two years left on their contract that is unwilling to sign a new deal.

That could well impact the Gunners this summer, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil both contracted until 2021.

“When we are selling players we need to maximise the funds we get to reinvest in the team,” Venkatesham told the club’s website. “We need to be really disciplined when we are dealing with senior players who are not towards the end of their careers.

“So that means we have to start making the difficult decisions when they have two years left on the contracts. We’re either going to renew those contracts or we’re going to be selling them.

“We’re going to have to be brave in those decisions because we can’t be in a situation where we’re allowing players to walk out of the door for free unless they are coming towards the end of their careers.”
