Manchester United could be set for a blockbuster summer with the club set to appoint a new manager, as well as backing the new boss in the transfer market.
This current season has been an immense disappointment for United. Expectations were high after the club signed Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, instead of being part of the title race, United find themselves in a scrap for fourth place.
The Red Devils will once again aim to close the gap on Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea with more sizeable investment in players during the summer transfer window.
Whilst the next United boss will undoubtedly play a part in the transfer strategy, the club will already have established long-term targets.
One such name is Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland, as reported by Manchester Evening News , interim manager Ralf Rangnick is urging the club to press ahead with plans to sign the 21-year-old.
The Norway striker is unquestionably one of the best talents in world football, and the €75million release clause in his contract is poised to become active this summer.
Meanwhile, United are desperate for depth and quality in central midfield, particularly with Paul Pogba set to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer.
The club have admired West Ham star Declan Rice for sometime and could test the Hammers’ resolve to keep the England ace. It’s believed it would take a bid in the region of £100 million to prise the 23-year-old away from the London Stadium.
Rice would thrive playing alongside a disciplined defensive midfield partner to allow him to drive forward with those surging runs that are becoming a feature of his game - but United fans would perhaps want the club to go for the creative Jude Bellingham. The Dortmund teenager almost joined United from Birmingham but opted to switch to Germany. His value has since soared and he is one of the world's most in-demand youngsters so signing him would be tough.
Whoever replaces Rangnick in the summer is likely to stick with current No.1 David de Gea, with the Spain stopper impressing in an overall disappointing United side.
In defence, from right to left, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be hopeful of forcing his way back into the starting XI at the expense of Diogo Dalot.
Varane and Harry Maguire should be the preferred central-defensive partnership, with Luke Shaw at left-back.
In midfield, United have recently switched from a 4-2-2-2 formation to a more conventional 4-2-3-1 and presuming the new United boss sticks with that set-up; Rice and Bellingham could partner each other at the base.
Leaving Sancho to operate down the right, Ronaldo on the opposite flank and Bruno Fernandes just behind Haaland.
Best United line-up next season if they sign Rice, Bellingham and Haaland: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Rice Bellingham; Sancho, Fernandes, Ronaldo, Haaland
