Manchester United's Daniel James close to completing Leeds transfer

Manchester United's Daniel James is close to completing a transfer to Leeds.

Although James was in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans for this season, the Manchester Evening News understands Friday's announcement of Cristiano Ronaldo's sensational return to Old Trafford made the Welshman reconsider his future at United.

Leeds almost signed James on deadline day in January 2019 before United nabbed the Welshman for £15m from Swansea that summer and they're now close to completing a permanent deal for the 23-year-old - almost two years later - which is worth £30m.

After United agreed a deal to sign Ronaldo from Juventus, multiple Premier League clubs enquired over James' availability.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is a long-term admirer of James, though, and his side are now close to finally landing their man.

James could undergo his medical at Leeds tomorrow morning and then an official announcement of the deal could follow

Discussions between United and Leeds emerged just one day after James started for the Reds against Wolves on Sunday.

The winger is set to leave United after making 74 appearances, in which he scored nine goals and created nine assists.
