Bruno Fernandes has been named as the most valuable midfielder in world football after his superb start to life at Manchester United.
The Portugal international has hit the ground running since making the move to Old Trafford from Sporting in January, with his form leading to him being named the Premier League player of the month for February before the action was brought to a halt by the coronavirus pandemic.
And the 25-year-old’s impact is reflected in the latest CIES Football Observatory transfer value list, with Fernandes sitting top among the world’s best midfielders.
The list presents the 100 big-five league players (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1) with the highest estimated transfer values, according to the CIES Football Observatory algorithm.
Fernandes is not only ranked as the most valuable attacking midfielder in the latest estimations, but the most valuable midfielder overall, with the estimation placing him at 104.9million euros (around £93.6million).
That places him ahead of Chelsea’s Mason Mount (102.5million euros), and Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong (102.1million euros).
PSG’s Kylian Mbappe tops the list for all positions, with the Frenchman’s estimated vale sitting at a staggering 259.2million euros.
Mbappe sits ahead of four English players, with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling second in the overall estimations on 194.7million euros, while Borussia Dortmund star and reported United target Jadon Sancho is third at 179.1million euros.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is fourth, and is the highest valued defender on the list at 171.1million euros, with United’s Marcus Rashford fifth with a value of 152.3million euros.
