Manchester United may be some distance from top the Premier League table but they have eclipsed rivals Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in terms of spending the most wages in the Premier League - forking out an estimated £226.6m on their players with Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest earner.
Their summer spending spree saw the 36-year-old return to United, as the club also signed Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton to bolster the options at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's disposal. David de Gea and Paul Pogba are also among the top earners at Old Trafford.
It comes as no surprise that the attacking department occupies a huge percentage of wage bill at United, as new figures show.
United's signing of Ronaldo has seemingly only increased the wage bill at the club, and hasn't had a positive impact on the league position.
The arrival of the Portugal captain not only led to mass hysteria around the world but also saw him knock De Gea - who is reportedly earning a weekly salary of £375,000 - off the top of the highest earners at the club. Ronaldo is pocketing £510,000-a-week (£26.5m-a-year), according to Spotrac.
At the other end of the wage spectrum, Scott McTominay and Diogo Dalot are reportedly the lowest earners at the club taking home £20,000 and £25,000-per-week respectively.
League leaders Chelsea sit in second some £60m behind United, according to the figures, spending an estimated £162m with holders Manchester City splashing out £143m as Liverpool fall marginally behind with £139m - although that could dramatically change should they extend Mohamed Salah's deal.
Newly promoted duo Brentford and Norwich City would be in the relegation zone in terms of spending the least wages with Marcelo Bielsa's side sandwiched between the two.
