With the 2019 summer transfer window closing in exactly one month today, Manchester United have been busy so far, but are expected to get even busier in the next few weeks.
With United already securing British talents Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have also been linked with a bid for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire.
United have also been linked with a move for Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes, who had an excellent domestic campaign in 2018/19, also shining for Portugal in the UEFA Nations League this summer.
Recent reports suggest that Fernandes would be available for around £60 million this summer, with the Portugal international rumoured to be keen on a move to Old Trafford.
So, how would United perform if they managed to sign the Portuguese midfielder this summer?
We used Football Manager 2019 to have a bit of fun and try and predict how United would perform with Bruno Fernandes in the team.

To set up the simulation, we inputted a future transfer of £60 million in July 2019, which saw Fernandes move to Old Trafford from Sporting.

Using a fan made editor file, we also updated all the latest transfers, manager changes, promotions and relegations, to make it as realistic as possible, including the likes of Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
We then stopped United signing anyone else in-game, to see how much difference Fernandes could make on his own.
So how much difference will he make to United's performance in the 2019/20 season?

Fernandes had a fantastic season at United in 2019/20, leading United's assist chart with 15 throughout the season, including eight in the Premier League, also finding the net a further six times.
The Portugal international averaged a 6.96 match rating over the course of the season, which is pretty decent, but there should be more to come.

Manchester United's best XI in 2019/20

Fernandes played his way into the Man United best XI in 2019/20, alongisde Pogba and Matic in midfield, whilst Wan-Bissaka made the right-back spot his own.

With Fernandes in the side, United managed a fourth place finish in the Premier League, finishing ahead of Spurs on goal difference.

United amassed five more points than the previous season with Fernandes, which helped them secure Champions League football once again.
The midfielder also played a major role in United winning their first piece of silverware since the 2017 Europa League, as he registered an assist in the FA Cup final win over rivals Man City.

Football Manager 2019 suggests that if Fernandes was signed this summer, United would finish in the top four and win a trophy.
That's got to be worth his reported £60 million fee right?
