Manchester United: Romelu Lukaku's agent confirms Inter transfer talks

Romelu Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello has confirmed Internazionale’s interest in signing the Manchester United striker.

Pastorello attended a meeting at Inter’s offices in Milan on Tuesday afternoon amid speculation that his client could join the Serie A club.

Lukaku is understood to be open to leaving United, having recently claimed to have made a decision on his Old Trafford future.

But United are under little pressure to sell and Inter are yet to submit an offer which meets Lukaku’s £80m asking price.

“Yes, he’s publicly expressed his plans and desires,” Pastorello said on Tuesday, after being questioned on Lukaku’s future. “We’ll see what happens.”

“Lukaku [joining Inter] is a dream, a difficult one to make happen as such, but I believe nothing is impossible. It’s not impossible and Inter is trying hard.”

Beppe Marotta, Inter’s chief executive, suggested that the future of Edoardo Vergani, another of Pastorello’s clients, was the main topic of discussion at the meeting.

“We talked about Vergani [first] because his is a more urgent situation. In the next few days, we’ll talk about the rest.” On Lukaku specifically, Marotta said: “It’s early.”

Antonio Conte, who almost brought Lukaku to Chelsea in the summer of 2017, was recently installed as Inter’s new manager.

Lukaku described Conte as “the best coach in the world” earlier this month, only fuelling speculation that he may join the Italian at the Giuseppe Meazza.
