Manchester United Reject Napoli Garnacho Bid Of Around £40m

Manchester United have rejected a bid from Italian side Napoli for young winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Serie A outfit Napoli have made twenty-year-old Garnacho their main transfer target for this January window.

They are hoping to fund a deal for the Argentina international through the sale of Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who looks set to join Paris St-Germain.

But Napoli’s initial offer appears to have failed. Their valuation of Garnacho seems to be well below the figure Manchester United are holding out for.

Details surrounding the opening bid are not confirmed, but it is believed Napoli offered somewhere around £40m for the forward.

However, while United are open to offers for most of their players, manager Ruben Amorim seems keen to give Garnacho an opportunity at Old Trafford.

Both he and England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo looked like they might be heading for the exit door, but reports now claim United are not encouraging offers for either player.

Amorim Clear In Response To Napoli Garnacho Bid

On Wednesday, United boss Amorim gave a clear indication about his feelings towards Garnacho.

He said: “That is clear. He has talent.

“I think he changed the way he sees himself.

“He’s finding the best way to play in this system and is improving during training.”

Garnacho put in a full 90-minute performance in United’s 3-1 comeback victory against Southampton on Thursday.

United were poor for the majority of the match, but a hat-trick from Amad Diallo in the final ten minutes earned them the win at Old Trafford.

Arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2021, Garnacho made his senior debut for United the following year. He has since scored 23 times in 117 firt-team appearances.

This seaon, he’s bagged eight goals in 31 games. However, he and teammate Marcus Rashford were both dropped from the match-day squad for the side’s derby victory over Manchester City at the Etihad in December.
