Manchester United receive selection boost ahead of Newcastle United fixture

Newcastle United have been dealt a big selection blow ahead of their clash with Manchester United.

Ralf Rangnick's side will travel to the north east on December 27th to face a struggling Newcastle side, and they're set to be without a key player.

It will be United's first game in more than two weeks, after their games against Brentford and Brighton were called off due to Covid-19 outbreaks.

Isaac Hayden will be suspended for the match after he picked up his fifth Premier League booking of the season, in the 4-0 loss to Pep Guardiola's side on Sunday afternoon.

Hayden has been an instrumental part in Newcastle's defence over the past few weeks, anchoring the play from midfield.

He has started 12 Premier League games so far this season and even played at centre-back against Cristiano Ronaldo on the Portuguese's sensational second United debut earlier this season.

Newcastle currently have the worst defensive record in the league, conceding 41 goals.

While United do come into the game with some offensive woes themselves — scoring just three goals in their last three games in all competitions — they should be favourites to get all three points at St James' Park.
