Manchester United receive Jack Grealish blow and more transfer rumours

Jack Grealish would prefer to join Manchester City over Manchester United this summer.

That is according to The Athletic who claim Grealish was considering a move to Old Trafford last year but now prefers a move to United's rivals and Premier League champions, which could prove to be a blow in any potential pursuit of the Aston Villa star.

The creative midfielder has gone from strength to strength in the Premier League and it was recently reported that United's scouts had been closely following his progress, impressed by his continued development which has made him an England international.

Reports recently claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has cooled his interest in Grealish, though, instead identifying Jadon Sancho as United's priority transfer target in the upcoming transfer window after negotiations with Borussia Dortmund broke down last year.

The MEN understands United have begun talks with Raphael Varane over the possibility of signing the World Cup winner this summer.

Now, fresh details from AS claim that despite Paris Saint-Germain's interest in the centre-half, United are in the strongest position to sign the 28-year-old, who could be tempted to line up alongside fellow countryman and friend Paul Pogba next season.

Varane is entering the final year of his contract at Real Madrid and it's believed he could available for around £60m.
