Manchester United recall Dylan Levitt from Charlton Athletic loan spell

Manchester United have confirmed midfielder Dylan Levitt has been recalled from his loan spell at Charlton Athletic.

The Wales international joined the League One side on a season-long loan in the summer transfer window but struggled for game time with his new side.

MEN Sport reported United included a clause in the deal that would see Levitt recalled from his loan spell if the club desired and that clause has now been triggered, with Levitt returning to Manchester this month.

“Dylan is a professional lad and a very talented footballer," Charlton manager Lee Bowyer said. "I'd like to thank Nicky Butt and Manchester United for allowing us to bring in Dylan on loan. He worked hard during his time here and we wish him the best for the future.".

In November, Bowyer explained Levitt's lack of playing time was due to fierce competition in midfield at The Valley.

He said: "Dylan hasn’t done anything wrong. He hasn’t had as many minutes as he’d have liked or we’d have liked him to have, but the middle of the park is probably our strongest area."

Levitt isn't the only youth player to return to the club after Matej Kovar's loan spell at Swindon Town was also terminated.

Former United player Will Keane believes United's loan stars are struggling to deal with the intensity of the lower divisions.

He told MEN Sport: "It’s tough. I think the style of play, with these lads coming up through the ranks and then getting in the reserve team, they’re used to that and it’s a very technical game.

"And it’s not men’s football, so when you have that first exposure, it probably is a bit of a wake-up call to a lot of players, really. It’s a different game."
