Manchester United 'readying move' for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are readying an offer for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly - according to reports.

The Senegal international has long been linked with a switch to Old Trafford and was on United's shortlist in the summer prior to signing Harry Maguire from Leicester.

Koulibaly continues to impress fans with his performances in the Serie A, establishing himself as one of the world's best defenders, and speculation linking him with United won't go away.

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim United are once again ready to make a move for the 28-year-old in the coming transfer windows.

Earlier in the week, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis openly admitted he would one day be forced to sell the defender which has led to United exploring the possibility of bringing him to the club in the future.

It's likely Koulibaly would cost more than the £85million it took to sign Maguire from Leicester this summer.

Elsewhere, reported striker target Edinson Cavani has rejected a move to Major League Soccer - according to reports.

The Paris-Saint Germain star has been linked with an exit as his contract is set to expire next summer and United have been mooted as a potential destination.

French outlet L'Equipe claim Cavani has rejected the chance to join Inter Miami - the team owned by former Manchester United man David Beckham.

Cavani has indicated he wants to continue playing in Europe at the highest level, potentially opening the door on a move to Manchester.

United midfielder Nemanja Matic has been heavily linked with an exit, Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign the 31-year-old who isn't first-choice under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Matic is out of contract next summer and Inter have targeted signing him on a free transfer. However, Corrierre dello Sport claim United are set to trigger a clause in his contract to avoid losing him for nothing.

The report claims United are unwilling to see him depart on a free and would force Inter to pay a transfer fee.
