Manchester United ready to 'take advantage' in race to sign former Nottingham Forest defender

Former Nottingham Forest defender Anel Ahmedhodzic has been linked with a sensational move to Manchester United.

The 21-year-old left the City Ground in January 2019 for Malmo, where he has developed into a key player for the Swedish club.

The Bosnia international has reportedly been in talks to join Serie A side Atalanta and an agreement over a 11 million euro summer move is said to have been reached.

But, according to French website JFooteux, the deal was not concluded due to a “lack of time”.

The report added that Man United are ready to "take advantage" of the situation by offering 13 million for the player.

Ahmedhodzic was linked with Chelsea and PSV Eindhoven earlier this season.

At the time, the 21-year-old insisted the speculation was not proving a distraction for him.

“It helps me positively,” he insisted. “It raises my confidence to know that I have such big clubs after me.

“I will always be interesting if I play this well, especially for Malmö, which is such a big club.”

Ahmedhodzic featured just once for the Reds first-team, when he came off the bench in a 3-1 Championship defeat at Newcastle United in December 2016.
