Manchester United 'reach verbal agreement' to sign striker in January and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement to sign Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic in January - according to reports in Italy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to strengthen his options in the final third with United struggling for goals following the summer departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

Marcus Rashford looks short of confidence while Anthony Martial has spent a large chunk of the season on the sidelines through injury.

Solskjaer has reportedly made signing the 33-year-old forward his number one priority and Tuttosport claim an agreement has been made between United and the player's representatives.

Mandzukic is eager to leave the club and Juventus are unlikely to stand in his way of leaving given Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala are ahead of him in the pecking order.

The outlet claim that other clubs around Europe are also monitoring his situation and United's lack of Champions League football could prove costly as Mandzukic could choose to move elsewhere.

In other news, United have also reportedly registered an interest in young Mexican star Sebastian Cordova.

The 22-year-old currently plays in his homeland for Club America and has been in fine form of late, scoring three goals in 11 appearances.

Portuguese outlet A Bola claim that United are weighing up a move for the winger who made his debut for Mexico last week.

United would face competition from both Benfica and Sevilla if they solidified their interest in the forward.
