Manchester United 'quoted Giovani Lo Celso price' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United will have to pay in excess of £67 million to land Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis, according to reports.

The I paper  claim that Betis are resigned to losing the 23-year-old this summer despite making their loan deal with the former Paris Saint-Germain player permanent this summer.

United are said to have genuine interest in the midfielder, with Betis prepared to let him go for £22m less than his release clause, which stands at £89m.

Tottenham Hotspur's £53 million bid for the Argentina international was knocked back earlier this summer but Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be applying pressure on the club's hierarchy to make a breakthrough in negotiations. Lo Celso's preference is reported to be a move to White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that Spurs have no interest in signing Bruno Fernandes this summer to leave United in pole position for the midfielder.

Manchester City distanced themselves from reports linking them with a move for the Portugal midfielder earlier this summer and the Daily Mail report that Spurs have since followed suit.

United are said to have been left impressed by Fernandes’ goalscoring exploits at Sporting Lisbon last season - the 24-year-old scored 32 goals in 53 games - and it is reported that the Reds would have to part with £50 million to secure his services.

Elsewhere, United are said to be prepared to bid nearer to the £80 million asking price that Leicester have placed on Harry Maguire this summer than City.

The Daily Mail claimed that Maguire would favour a move to the Etihad but the Blues would only consider a move for a £50 million fee.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to be hopeful of persuading the England international that his future lies at Old Trafford.
