Manchester United provide injury update on Marcus Rashford as forward misses AC Milan game

Marcus Rashford could be fit for Manchester United's Premier League clash with West Ham on Sunday.

The forward had featured in all of United's 43 games in all competitions this season, until an ankle injury ruled him out of Thursday's Europa League last-16 first leg against AC Milan.

Rashford limped out of the Manchester derby win at the Etihad on Sunday and he hasn't recovered in time to maintain his record of featuring in every game this season.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hasn't ruled him out this weekend and he could be back in time face the Hammers at Old Trafford.

“He’s a fit lad, he’s athletic, recovers well, we’ve not had too much of a reason to rest him," Solskjaer told MUTV. "He got a knock on his ankle which made it impossible for him to be part of the squad, hopefully for the weekend, but we don’t know."

Mason Greenwood comes into the side for Rashford, one of four changes for United, with Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Nemanja Matic starting in place of Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Fred, who all drop to the bench.

“There’s some players coming in, Nemanja, Eric, Alex, loads of experience of European football, and Mason takes over from Marcus. We feel it’s a strong team and there’s some fresh legs in there," said Solskjaer.

It means Bailly finally makes his 100th United appearance, towards the end of his fifth season at the club, and Solskjaer is pleased with his injury record this season after being plagued with fitness issues previously.

“I don’t want to jinx it now but he’s kept fit for longer now and you can see his performances and he’s more confident in himself. Hopefully today he’ll prove again what a good player he is," he said.
