Manchester United problem position: Three transfer targets who could solve attacking midfield issue at Old Trafford

Manchester United fans have identified attacking midfield as the position which needs addressing as a priority this summer.

Polled by Standard Sport, a vast majority of United fans told us an offensive midfielder was the most pressing puzzle piece of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's summer rebuild, with attack and defensive midfield also identified as key areas to reinforce.

Here, we pull out three midfield options on Solskjaer's wishlist...

Targets: Jack Grealish, James Maddison, Donny Van de Beek

Grealish (above) looks tailor-made for United and based on his performance at Old Trafford this season, has the personality to rise to the challenge of performing on such a big stage.

John Terry’s comments likening him to both Joe Cole and Eden Hazard this week were notable. United wanted, but failed to land, both of those players. Perhaps it will be third time lucky.

But any of that trio would add a new dimension to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield.

It’s also worth noting that they could have a perfect candidate already at the club. If Paul Pogba stays on at Old Trafford they’ve got a player who can create and score goals, with a superb range of passing and the ability to carry the ball. He has it all - and if he shows that on a regular basis, they don’t need to look any further.

Which of the summer targets should Solskjaer sign? Have your say in the poll above!
