Manchester United predicted starting line up vs Chelsea

Manchester United are looking to put a disappointing 2018/19 campaign behind them as they take on rivals Chelsea at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Following the arrival of Harry Maguire for £80million from Leicester, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted not to spend on deadline day, despite allowing Romelu Lukaku to leave for Inter Milan.

Solskjaer for Lukaku to depart United and will trust hot prospect Mason Greenwood and forgotten man Alexis Sanchez to step up in the Belgian's absence.

With no direct replacement for the ex-Everton forward, it's likely Anthony Martial will have the chance to impress in a central role, with Marcus Rashford also expected to compete for the chance to start.

During pre-season, the United boss stuck with his favoured 4-2-3-1 approach which should be used again against Frank Lampard's men.

David de Gea will definitely start between the sticks and Solskjaer is expected to hand Maguire his full debut for United ahead of him. Eric Bailly won't be available for selection due to injury.

Alongside Maguire, Sweden international Victor Lindelof should start with new signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back and Luke Shaw on the left.

Despite rumours surrounding his future continuing to swirl, the Norwegian confirmed in his press conference that Paul Pogba would be available to play, even though he missed the final pre-season fixture against AC Milan. He should feature in the midfield two alongside Scott McTominay.

Solskjaer could hand a Premier League debut to winger Daniel James after the youngster featured heavily during pre-season - with United failing to land a more established forward - the Welshman could be given a baptism of fire against the Londoners.

Completing the attacking trio should be Jesse Lingard and Rashford who are both expected to shoulder most of the attacking burden following Lukaku's departure.

With Rashford shifted to the left, expect Martial to play as the lone striker as the former Monaco man looks to establish himself as the first-choice forward. The Frenchman knows time is running out to prove himself in the No.9 role for both club and country.

Manchester United predicted starting XI vs Chelsea: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Pogba, McTominay; James, Lingard, Rashford; Martial.
