Manchester United 'plotting £80million raid for Kai Havertz' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are looking to sign Bayer Leverkusen creative midfielder Kai Havertz in a massive money deal next summer, according to reports.

United have struggled for form and consistency this season and perhaps their biggest issue has been the inability to break down teams who sit deep against them.

While United's pace and fluidity on the counter with the likes of Anthony Martial, Dan James and Marcus Rashford can prove deadly, it only works against teams who are willing to come forward and attack them.

When they come up against a team who are happy to sit back, like Bournemouth on Saturday, they struggle to pick the lock and quickly run out of ideas.

As a result it's no surprise that United are being touted to add a creative midfielder to their ranks and have been linked with the likes of James Maddison, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Manchester United's January transfer window plans

However, one name that continues to crop up and excite fans is 20-year-old Havertz, who has been a sensation in Germany after grabbing 20 goals and seven assists last season.

The Daily Star reports that United are 'plotting an £80million raid' for Havertz and that he is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's 'No.1 target.'

It's claimed that United 'will wait until next summer' to make the move but plan to offer a deal that Leverkusen 'will be unable to turn down' and 'treble Havertz' wages.'

It's also reported that United will send scouts to watch Havertz in action against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, A report by the Evening Standard  says Everton forward Richarlison has emerged as a possible United target.

It is claimed that the Brazilian is 'closer to what Solskjaer is looking to build his forward line around' and that he is someone 'United are keeping tabs on as a proven Premier League performer.'

Since moving to the Premier League the 22-year-old has scored 20 goals in 84 appearances.
