Manchester United players to return in two groups for pre-season training

Manchester United's non-internationals are expected to return in early July for the start of pre-season.

United's first pre-season fixture is against Leeds in Oslo on July 12 and the squad is set to consist of those who were not on international duty this month.

Lisandro Martinez and Donny van de Beek could make their return from long-term lay-offs against Championship side Leeds. Martinez sustained a fractured metatarsal on April 13 while Van de Beek has not played since January 3 due to a knee injury.

Frenchmen Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial could be available for the game in Norway as Varane retired from international football and Martial is recovering from a torn hamstring.

Antony is likely to be included after missing the FA Cup final with an ankle injury. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fred and Jadon Sancho are among the other senior squad members due to be involved at the Ulleval Stadium if they are still at the club.

Amad could also travel to Scandinavia following the end of his season-long loan with Sunderland in the Championship.

United's international players are scheduled to report from July 10 as they are entitled to a minimum three-week break in the summer.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Elanga, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia, Facundo Pellistri, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly were all on international duty over the last week.

United play Lyon in Edinburgh on July 19 and fly straight to New York for the start of their tour of the United States. United will play Arsenal on July 22, Real Madrid on July 27 in Houston and Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas on July 30.

The United academy will take on Wrexham in San Diego on July 26.
