Wales international Daniel James has today completed his £25million move from Manchester United to Premier League rivals Leeds United.
The winger, who joined the Reds from Swansea City back in the summer of 2019, has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at Elland Road, ending his two-year spell at Old Trafford.
Despite starting Sunday's 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, suggesting that he could still play a role in manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans this season, United's stance on James changed quite quickly following the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo to the squad.
On completing his move to Leeds, James, speaking to Leeds' club website, said: "It feels great. I’m glad everything is over the line now and I'm just looking forward to getting started.
"There's been interest for a while and it's happened late in the window due to various reasons, but I'm just glad that I'm here now, I'm ready and I can't wait to get going.
"It's an amazing club, with an amazing history and a great group of lads. I know a few of them already and I've had some great chats with them already."
Following confirmation of his departure from Old Trafford, the 23-year-old has been sent a cluster of messages from his former team-mates, wishing him all the best in his new venture at Elland Road.
Amongst those to have sent a message to the Welshman was United goalkeeper David De Gea, who posted on Twitter: "All the best."
Midfield architect Bruno Fernandes was another who openly wished James all the best on the next chapter in his career. Posting on his Instagram Story, the Portugal international said: "All the best @daniel_james97."
Marcus Rashford followed suit, also sending James a message on his Instagram Story, writing: "My guy good luck @daniel_james97."
It is clear, therefore, that James was well respected and well thought of by those in the United dressing room.
For James, the switch to Leeds will provide him with the opportunity to no doubt secure more regular first-team football.
