Manchester United players reveal Harry Maguire's role in dressing room

Harry Maguire is already imparting his experience and leadership skills on his Manchester United teammates in the dressing room, several players have revealed.

The centre-back's £80million arrival was billed as a marquee transfer for United in the summer and Maguire won Man Of The Match against Chelsea on his debut. He's even been touted as a future captain, having been a leader for Leicester City and England in recent years.

And United players revealed to the club website how Maguire has adapted to life at Old Trafford.

“It’s been seamless,” said Lee Grant when asked about Maguire's bedding-in period.

“Harry has definitely slotted straight in, in terms of the social side and in terms of his mentality and attitude, which has been first class.

“The most important thing, though, is his quality and he was able to show that against Chelsea. We could all see he is quite at home in front of the Old Trafford crowd and quite at home as a Manchester United player.”

Maguire has slotted into a settled back five at United, who have started the first three games of the season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

And although his arrival has meant players like Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo have dropped down the centre-back pecking order, fellow defender Diogo Dalot has been impressed by Maguire's humility.

“He’s so calm,” said Dalot.

“He’s settled in perfectly. He’s a very nice guy, very humble, very quick to settle. We’ll keep helping him, but I think he’s already shown everyone on the pitch that he’s ready for this club.

“He’s a big guy. We already knew from the days he played at Leicester but it’s different when you see him in real life every day.

"We have a few young lads here, including myself, so to have that kind of experience in the dressing room is good. And of course, his natural leadership will be very good for the club.”
