Manchester United players arrive at training ground before Liverpool fixture

Manchester United players have been pictured at the club's Carrington training complex hours ahead of their trip to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Ralf Rangnick's side return to action following their victory against Norwich at the weekend and know another positive result is crucial in their unlikely bid to salvage a top-four finish this season.

United were humiliated 5-0 the last time they faced Liverpool in the Premier League and face a daunting rematch with Jurgen Klopp's side given their early injury news ahead of the match.

The Manchester Evening News understands United's squad members were told to report to the club's Carrington base on Tuesday morning before making their way to a Liverpool hotel as a group later in the day.

Cristiano Ronaldo was one of those not spotted, and United have since confirmed the Portuguese will miss the clash following the tragic death of his baby boy.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday, interim manager Rangnick revealed that Raphael Varane, Scott McTominay and Fred are all set to miss the clash at Anfield. The trio missed the win over Norwich on Saturday. Varane and McTominay (foot) have been sidelined for the last two games and Fred has not recovered from a hip flexor problem he sustained at Everton.

Edinson Cavani and Luke Shaw are possibly out for the rest of the season, and the depleted state of the midfield could force interim manager Ralf Rangnick to start Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba.

Despite that, many injured players were present at Carrington to continue their rehabilitation progress, though it is unclear whether any of them will travel to Liverpool for the match at Anfield tonight.

"Rapha didn't train with the team, he was on the pitch with one of our rehab coaches," Rangnick said. "In regard to injuries, we have the same situation as we had in the last two games."

Bruno Fernandes was involved in a car accident on the way to training on Monday morning but was not seriously injured and trained at United's Carrington training complex. He was driven in by close friend Juan Mata on Tuesday.

"Yes, he's training with the team," Rangnick added. "Obviously the accident happened on the way to Carrington but as far as I know nobody was injured. He trained with the team, he was okay and will be okay for tomorrow."

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly and Jadon Sancho were all spotted by photographers although not of them were pictured arriving at the training facility.
