Manchester United player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Lisandro Martinez and Fred good

David de Gea

Pushed away Jeffrey Schlupp's shot at the end of the first-half to preserve United's lead and denied Marc Guehi from a corner. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Collaborated productively with Antony again and is becoming a growing influence in the final third. His defensive skills were needed in the last 20 minutes. 7

Raphael Varane

Defended calmly as usual against a mainly toothless Palace until United were reduced to 10 men. Whipped the crowd up. 8

Lisandro Martinez

The height advantage Palace's forwards had over Martinez counted for little and Martinez was almost always the man in the way. 9

Luke Shaw

Vigilant in his own third and an ever-present in the final third, although his end product was suspect. Defended carefully against Michael Olise. 7

Casemiro

Not as influential as in recent games but there were sporadic flickers of his class. Needlessly confronted Will Hughes and was sent off. 6

Fred

Energetic as ever and advanced further forward with Casemiro holding the midfield and hit the side netting from a pull-back. Improved when Casemiro went off. 8

Antony

Good interplay with Wan-Bissaka and had one goalbound shot blocked by a teammate. More direct in the second-half. 7

Bruno Fernandes

Stepped up to coolly convert the penalty and pressed effectively. Had a role in the second goal working the play from right to left. 7

Marcus Rashford

Won the penalty when his cross was handled by Will Hughes and shot over when he ought to have hit the target. Got his goal when he moved inside. 7

Wout Weghorst

Had a header palmed away by Vicente Guaita but this was another weak performance from the Dutchman, whose link-up play was patchy. 5

Subs

Alejandro Garnacho

Naivety showed with United down to 10 men. Substituted off. 5

Marcel Sabitzer

Some purposeful moments. 7

Harry Maguire

Came on to shore up the defence. 6

Victor Lindelof

Similar to Maguire. 6

Manager

Selected the logical team with Anthony Martial a late withdrawal and his game-management worked immediately when Rashford went up front and scored. Rightly put Sabitzer on. 8
