Man United player ratings vs West Ham: Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles good

Dean Henderson

Vigilant enough on a freezing night and took impressive command of his penalty area for a corner. His concentration never wavered. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Did not do much wrong and was solid in defence but had little impact in attack and came off after 90 minutes. 6

Victor Lindelof

Saw his header tipped onto the post by Lukasz Fabianski and had little to cope with in defence against a tepid West Ham attack. 7

Harry Maguire

Outpaced once or twice but pretty solid on a night West Ham did not make the most of Tomas Soucek's physicality. 6

Alex Telles

Started slowly but almost assisted Victor Lindelof from a corner and kicked on, denying Jarrod Bowen a one-on-one. 6

Fred

Disappointing again after his error-strewn performance against Everton and could have made way for Scott McTominay. Clearly doesn't participate in shooting practice. 5

Nemanja Matic

Shot over and was respectable enough but Solskjaer was too conservative with his choice of midfielders and Matic was sacrificed in the 73rd minute. 6

Mason Greenwood

Bright again and the best of United's attackers but did not have a clear-cut chance to test Fabianski. Unlucky to be substituted. 6

Donny van de Beek

Off the pace again. Barely pressed when United did not have the ball and barely probed when he had it. Out of sync from the off. 3

Marcus Rashford

Frustrated his manager when he failed to put away a gilt-edged chance. Poor again but seems to be Teflon. Teed up McTominay, at least. 5

Anthony Martial

Tried his utmost but was impotent against his one-time whipping boys. Did not lack for effort but did not convince, either. 5

Subs

Bruno Fernandes

Did more than Van de Beek did in 72 minutes with his first touch. 6

Scott McTominay

Came in to provide a goal threat and got the goal. 8

Edinson Cavani

Offered a threat. 6

Luke Shaw

Brought energy and expertise to the United attack. 7

Brandon Williams

A rare and secure outing. 6

Manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Too risk-aversive with the midfield duo and took too long to make changes. The introduction of McTominay paid off. 6
