Man Utd player ratings vs Wolves: Paul Pogba poor but Scott McTominay good

David de Gea

Could barely react to Diogo Jota's equaliser and could have been stronger in dealing with Jonny's cross that led to the own goal. 4

Diogo Dalot

Crossed superbly early on for Romelu Lukaku but quickly faded and went quiet. Booked for a cynical foul. 4

Ashley Young

A surprise selection in a back three and the element of surprise worked until he played Jota onside to equalise. Did not look as comfortable thereafter and got stupidly sent off. 2

Victor Lindelof

Acquitted himself decently back in the side after he sat out the Watford draw. Did not leave a trail of ring-rust in his first game for 17 days. 5

Chris Smalling

Held the fort impressively and remained composed as Wolves started to pile pressure on United. But eventually yielded with an own goal. 5

Luke Shaw

Got caught high up too often (again) and ended up getting booked for a professional foul that rules him out of the next two Premier League games. 4

Scott McTominay

Rui Patricio was feeble but it was a fine strike by McTominay to tally his first career goal. Could have got a second in the second-half. 5

Paul Pogba

Was so bad he was switched with McTominay. And promptly ceded possession and then conceded a throw-in. Playing like someone who's had their head turned. 2

Fred

Had not looked so accomplished in a United shirt until he miscontrolled De Gea's goal kick and changed the game's dynamic. Replaced by Phil Jones. 5

Jesse Lingard

Made the 3-5-2 tick with his intuitive movement and prudent use of the ball. Blemished an otherwise excellent performance with a casual header at 1-0. 5

Romelu Lukaku

Should have made it 1-0 and could have made it 2-1 before half-time. Overall play was encouraging, his finishing less so. 5

Subs

Phil Jones

Did not challenge strongly enough for the own goal. 2

Anthony Martial

No impact. 4

Andreas Pereira

No impact. 4
