Man United players ratings vs Brighton: Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire solid

Dean Henderson

New status and new nerves. Made some good stops but flapped at corners and Brighton seemed to target him. Calmer in the second-half. 6

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Talking of targeting, Brighton scored against United again by delivering towards the far post, where Danny Welbeck caught Wan-Bissaka napping. 5

Victor Lindelof

On the topic of napping, Lindelof was unaware of Welbeck when he met the cross to eventually score. Exposed for Welbeck's non-penalty incident. 5

Harry Maguire

Tried to rouse teammates and made a key block at 1-0 before half-time. Maybe fortunate to get away with a challenge on Welbeck but did it cutely. 6

Luke Shaw

So poor in the first-half his manager was on his case. More of a threat after the pause and played a key role in the winning goal. 6

Fred

Endeavoured but rarely excelled in the first-half. Improved in the second and reflects well on his character he recovered so quickly after the Leicester horror show. 7

Paul Pogba

Struggled to get going on his first Premier League start in nearly two months and played Fred into trouble for Brighton's opener. Unwittingly assisted Mason Greenwood. 6

Mason Greenwood

His fierce right-footed shot smacked the post but Greenwood persisted and his manager will have loved the scruffy manner of his winner. 7

Bruno Fernandes

Has looked out of sorts for a while and the first-half against Brighton might have been the nadir. Still tallied his 14th assist of the season. 6

Marcus Rashford

If there was sufficient competition then Rashford would be droppable. Disobeyed instructions at times but eventually turned up with the equaliser. Came off with an injury. 5

Edinson Cavani

Looked like someone who had started in one of the previous 10 games and does not particularly look like he is keen to stay. 3

Subs

Daniel James

Tired Brighton with his running. 6

Donny van de Beek

Had little time to do much. 5

Scott McTominay

Came on to protect lead. 5

Manager

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Did not make a proactive substitution early enough but perseverance prevailed, albeit rather fortuitously. 6
