Manchester United player ratings as Fred and Diogo Dalot good vs Crystal Palace

David de Gea

Could have watched the first-half with Mike Phelan and had little to do in the second against a predictably unadventurous Palace. 6

Diogo Dalot

Dangerous at times down the right and whipped in a threatening cross before he almost scored with a left-footer. Another purposeful performance. 8

Victor Lindelof

Used the ball well turning defence into attack and was more physical in the duels than Maguire. A solid showing. 7

Harry Maguire

Could have been more adventurous when advancing with the ball and too basic with some defensive clearances. Big header late on. 7

Alex Telles

His upward trajectory continued in an enterprising first-half from open play and set-pieces. Flicked the crossbar from a free-kick. 7

Scott McTominay

Aggressive and disciplined without ever having a major impact at either end, which is acceptable at Chelsea but not at home to Palace. 6

Fred

Underpinned United's pressing but careless at times with the ball. More than made amends with a classy side-footed strike. 7

Bruno Fernandes

Too impatient too often with the ball and that visibly vexed Rangnick. The bold move would have been to substitute Fernandes for Donny van de Beek. 4

Jadon Sancho

Probed incessantly and tracked back diligently. Contributed to some of the openings and was unfortunate to be hooked first. 6

Marcus Rashford

Occasionally productive in the first-half but wasted a good opening when Sancho laid the ball off to him. Should have come off earlier. 5

Cristiano Ronaldo

At the heart of most of the openings United created in their dominant first-half but could not silence the Palace fans. 6

Subs

Mason Greenwood

Did well for Fred's goal. 7

Anthony Elanga

Offered energy in attack. 6

Donny van de Beek

Came on late. 6

Manager

Had United set up in an innovative 4-2-2-2 and they produced their most accomplished first-half of the season - but did not score. Energised the attack with Greenwood and Elanga. 7
