Manchester United player Paul Pogba reunited with Ravel Morrison at training ground

Paul Pogba stayed behind at Carrington to watch former Manchester United teammate Ravel Morrison play for Sheffield United in a behind-closed-doors game on Tuesday.

Pogba was subjected to vile racist abuse by keyboard cowards on Twitter after missing a penalty in the Monday night draw with Wolves, and United released a statement condemning the targeting of Pogba by certain users.

Greater Manchester police have pledged to assist United to identify the users who sent the tweets and the club intend to issue lifetime bans.

Pogba received overwhelming support from teammates and watched some participate in a hastily arranged friendly with newly-promoted Sheffield United at United's Carrington training complex.

Morrison, 26, joined Sheffield United in the summer after he left Swedish club Ostersund but was not included in either of their Premier League matchday squads against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Pogba and Morrison were teammates in the United youth team and started in their 2011 FA Youth Cup final win over Sheffield United, for whom Harry Maguire lined up.

Morrison posted an Instagram Story of him and Pogba sat inside Carrington as the pair caught up now Morrison is back playing in England.

An experienced United team beat Sheffield United 3-1 through goals from Mason Greenwood, Andreas Pereira and Angel Gomes. Morrison lined up with new Sheffield United signings Oli McBurnie and Phil Jagielka.

United sold the troubled Morrison in January 2012 to West Ham United and the Wythenshawe-born attacking midfielder has had a peripatetic career.

Morrison had loan spells with Birmingham, Queens Park Rangers - twice - and Cardiff, and also played for Lazio and Mexican club Atlas before he moved to Sweden earlier this year.

The United academy graduate played a handful of times for West Ham in the Premier League in 2013-14 and has another chance to forge a career in England's top flight with newly-promoted Sheffield United.

Morrison could make his Blades debut against Leicester on Saturday and Sheffield United entertain Blackburn in the League Cup next week.
