Manchester United player Odion Ighalo sends message to fans amid coronavirus crisis

Manchester United star Odion Ighalo has admitted he misses playing football and urged football fans around the world to stay positive amid the coronavirus crisis.

The Football Association announced earlier this week that professional football in England would be postponed until April 30 and the deadline to complete the season has been extended indefinitely.

Manchester United have shut their Carrington training ground due to the pandemic and the players have been giving individual training routines to follow at home in order to maintain their fitness levels.

Ighalo conceded that he is missing football but believes fans must stay positive and help to beat coronavirus.

"Of course I miss football, like other players and fans," he told The Sun. "But lives matter.

"Staying safe and alive is our biggest game in the world now — and we all have a role to play in it.

"Football has to take a back seat all over the planet at the moment and that is very understandable.

"Coronavirus is affecting all countries, across all continents. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this pandemic and to the families who have lost loved ones.

"But I know we will beat coronavirus and I urge people to remain positive."
