Manchester United player Juan Mata praises Jadon Sancho after transfer question

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata hailed Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho amid the club's interest in the England international but refused to comment on his future.

Sancho is a priority target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with reports suggesting the 20-year-old wants to leave the club and is open to a return to the Premier League.

United fans are desperate to see the club secure his signature and Marcus Rashford recently admitted he would love to play alongside his international teammate at Old Trafford.

Mata was appearing on an Instagram live with Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry and responded to a fan who asked about United's interest in Sancho.

"Should we sign Jadon Sancho?" he said.

"[Laughs] What do you want me to say?!

"We all know he’s a great player. He’s having a fantastic season at Dortmund.

"But it’s not my responsibility to speak about those things. I like him as a player but I cannot reply to that."

Not long after, he was joined on his social media page by Dortmund defender Mats Hummels who was quick to pull up the Spaniard over his earlier comments.

Hummels said: "I was listening to you talking about Sancho!"

"I understand that," Hummels added, before bursting into laughter.
