Manchester United player Fred opens up on Scott McTominay partnership

Manchester United midfielder Fred has opened up on his partnership with Scott McTominay as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side beat Brighton in the Premier League.

With Paul Pogba's injury, the pair have been called upon in midfield and the Brazilian, who has struggled for a run of starts since arriving at the club, has impressed.

He was exceptional in the win against Brighton and he's been pleased with his own form this season.

"I think I've been playing well and helping the team, which is very important - as are the wins," Fred told United Review ahead of the Brighton game. "We didn't get the win in the last Premier League game, but I think I played well.

"I hope to continue on this good run, playing good football. It's important for me and the team for everyone's run of games. I hope to continue doing my best, working hard step-by-step to help the team win."

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hails Fred as the 'catalyst' in win over Brighton

Solskjaer has praised the work of Fred and McTominay and the partnership they have forged in recent weeks and the Brazilian thrives off the positive words from his manager.

"For the work me and Scott are doing in midfield it's very important to us. We work very hard for our places in this team, as it's a high-quality team. So receiving such praise is important," Fred said.

"As I said, I hope we can continue this run. Of course, we want all the players to come back from injury and join us to strengthen the squad further. But I'd like to continue this run in the team and doing my best for Manchester United."
