Manchester United player Eric Bailly carried off in neck brace after head injury vs Chelsea

Eric Bailly suffered a head injury and was taken off on a stretcher while wearing a neck brace following a collision with Harry Maguire during the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.

Bailly returned to the starting line up as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted for three centre-backs, the same formation used against Chelsea in the three victories earlier in the campaign.

Just minutes before the half-time whistle, Bailly and Maguire jumped for the same ball and collided with each other.

Both players hit the ground and needed treatment. Maguire was patched up on the field and returned to play sporting a bandage.

A stretcher was readied for Bailly but the Ivorian returned to his feet to walk off the field. However, play was stopped again as a neck brace was fitted on the defender on the sideline. He was eventually stretchered off the field after an 11-minute stoppage.

Bailly was replaced by Anthony Martial while Maguire continued to play. Play resumed and Chelsea took the lead through a goal from Olivier Giroud.

Solskjaer is expected to give an update on Bailly's condition at full-time.
