Manchester United player Daniel James explains his favourite position in the team

Manchester United attacker Daniel James has said he is happy to play in any position across the front three but prefers the left.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed the 21-year-old his debut in the 2-0 win against Perth Glory and he started the game on the left with Anthony Martial playing through the middle and Tahith Chong on the right.

James played the majority of last season down the left for Swansea and while he admitted that it's his favourite position he is happy to play wherever he is needed.

"For me that left position was always my favourite," James replied on MUTV when asked about his preferred position. "But I like being versatile and playing anywhere across the front three providing I’m in the team.

"It’s important you’ve got to play all three and our forward players can play that. Anthony played No 9 today and it’s good for us all to interlink and we swapped a few times and it’s good to play all three."

Angel Gomes replaced Daniel James down the left in the second half as Solskjaer changed his entire XI and like James explained where he is happy to play.

"Anywhere on the pitch I don't mind playing as long as it's for the club, I enjoyed it on the left, I get to come inside," Gomes told MUTV after the game.

United face Leeds United next at the Optus Stadium on Wednesday.
