Manchester United player Brandon Williams assesses loan move to Norwich so far

Manchester United player Brandon Williams admits that he is finally starting to feel settled at Norwich City.

The 21-year-old sealed a loan switch to Carrow Road during the summer transfer window and played his 11th game for the Canaries in the Premier League against Aston Villa last night (Tuesday).

Another defeat means Norwich remain bottom of the standings, level on points with Newcastle.

However, their survival hopes have been boosted since Dean Smith replaced Daniel Farke and Williams continues to see his stock rise with the Canaries.

Indeed, having only made five appearances before November, the United defender has started the last six matches for which he was available.

Of course, he missed out against his parent club on Saturday afternoon — when Cristiano Ronaldo settled the scores through a penalty — due to the terms of his season-long loan agreement.

And speaking to The Athletic about his loan, the full-back said: "I came to the point where I was at the age of needing to play football, not just sit there and lose years.

"I know being there at United and training with some of the best players in the world is good, but it is in the games where you learn a lot and get the experience, so I needed to get out and play.

"I just had to focus on myself and, thankfully, the manager let me go.

"The plan was for me to go out, but do the pre-season with United first. People were coming back from the Euros, so the squad wasn't big.

"Norwich has been a good choice. Whatever club I went to, there would have been a challenge to try to get regular game-time. I think it's good for this club that we have challenges all over the team.

"It's hard to come away. I've never been at another club before. I'm finally at that point where I'm comfortable and I know everyone here now. I've made really good friends. I enjoy the peace and quiet. Get home from training, watch some films and go to sleep."
