Manchester United offering support for released players with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson among nine to exit

Manchester United have confirmed they will release nine academy players next week, but will continue to offer them support until the end of August.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is the most notable name departing, with Demetri Mitchell, Ethan Hamilton, Dion McGhee, Largie Ramazani, George Tanner, Aidan Barlow, Kieran O’Hara and Alex Fojticek also to leave when their contract expire on June 30.

The club have opted against releasing anyone under the age of 19 due to the unique circumstances the coronavirus pandemic has presented.

Meanwhile, United are offering those released additional financial support, while providing them with training and information packages.

The Premier League has returned following a three-month absence, but when development football will resume remains unclear, with the club keen to assist their outgoing players during a turbulent period.

Players leaving will also be invited to train with the club while they search for a new team.

Borthwick-Jackson broke into the team under Louis Van Gaal, making 14 first-team appearances under the Dutchman. After a number of loan spells, he is set to depart.

Ramazani - who made his first-team debut earlier in the season in a Europa League fixture against Astana - is also to leave and is expected to move to the Spanish second division.

Angel Gomes is the only first-team player set to be out of contract, though manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed a deal is not "too far away".
