Manchester United 'offered striker for last minute loan move' and more transfer rumours

Manchester United could make a late loan move for Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo, according to reports.

With only a day remaining of the January transfer window United are still looking to bolster their attacking ranks with short-term cover following Marcus Rashford's injury.

The club's top scorer is expected to be out of action until after the winter break at least after suffering a stress fracture on his back and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are lacking fire power without him.

The likes of Edinson Cavani, Islam Slimani and Vedat Muriqi have all been speculated alongside former Watford man Ighalo.

Despite having a great start to life in the Premier League with the Hornets, the Nigerian international soon started to struggle and was eventually sold to Chinese club Changchun Yatai for £20million three years ago.

After scoring 36 times in 55 games Ighalo was snapped up by Shanghai and has bagged 10 times for them in 19 appearances, however, his time in China may soon be coming to an end.

The Chinese Super League has been suspended indefinitely and according to the Daily Mirror, Ighalo 'is being offered to United for a last minute loan move.'

It's claimed that the 30-year-old is 'flying back to Europe today and could secure a move before Friday’s deadline.'

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain's Cavani may opt for a move to the MLS instead of the Premier League, according to reports.

MEN Sport understands that Uruguayan was open to a move to United but with PSG demanding £25million for a 32-year-old who is out of contract in the summer the signing was impossible.

United were linked with making a move in the summer when Cavani becomes a free agent but, according to the Daily Star, he may 'snub' the Premier League to join David Beckham's Inter Miami instead.
