Manchester United odds on to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United this summer

Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff is odds on to join Manchester United before the end of this summer's transfer window.

The 21-year-old has emerged as a target for the Reds, as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to rebuild his squad following a poor end to the season.

United finished sixth in the Premier League and, as a result, will be playing Europa League football next season.

And following on from his side's poor campaign, Solskjaer is keen to centre his team around young, hungry, British players in his efforts to restore the Reds back to the top of English football.

United have already secured Daniel James from Swansea City, with the 21-year-old costing the Reds around £15million, and now bookmakers are convinced that Longstaff with the join the Welshman at the Theatre of Dreams.

Sky Bet have United priced at 4/5 to secure Longstaff's signature, with Liverpool second favourites priced at 20/1.

Arsenal are third in the betting priced at 25/1, while Tottenham complete the four-team shortlist priced at 33/1.

Longstaff joined Newcastle's academy as a youngster and made his first appearances for the club's reserve side in the 2014/15 season before securing a regular starting place the following campaign.

The Academy graduate then made his first appearance for the senior team as a substitute in a 4–0 defeat to Liverpool in December 2018.
