Manchester United new youth signing Kai Corbett scores on his debut

Manchester United added Bruno Fernandes and Odion Ighalo to their senior squad in the latter days of the January transfer window, as well as bringing goalkeeper Nathan Bishop to the Under-23s setup.

It was a busy end to an otherwise quiet month at United and the Under-18s squad made a signing too, in 17-year-old winger Kai Corbett.

He arrived at Old Trafford from West Ham United and has immediately hit he ground running, scoring on his debut for the Under-18s against Blackburn Rovers.

Corbett's goal was the only goal of the game as United won 1-0 at Blackburn, as he struck from close range.

The right-winger, who had scored four goals in 11 Under-18s Premier League appearances for West Ham this season — and a goal in the EFL trophy against Newport's first team — before making the switch, could now be in contention to feature in the upcoming FA Youth Cup fifth round clash with Leeds United.

have beaten Lincoln and Norwich so far in the prestigious cup competition to set up a mouth-watering clash with rivals Leeds at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Star Under-18s players Hannibal Mejbri and Dillon Hoogewerf did not started the game against Blackburn with that cup game in mind, while other key players Teden Mengi, Reece Devine and Mark Helm were also rested. Corbett was a half-time substitute after replacing Robbie Savage's son Charlie Savage.
